History of the Air Jordan 5

The Air Jordan 5 shoes were designed by Tinker Hatfield and debuted in 1990. Inspired by the World War II fighter plane, they feature a reflective 3M tongue, mesh, flame on the midsole and a set of lace fasteners. They were also the first Air Jordan models with translucent outsoles.

Big changes from previous releases These shoes were designed on a high upper. The ankle protection made the sneakers look bulkier compared to previous versions.

The shoes came in several traditional colorways: Grape, Fire Red, Black/Silver or White/Royal/Maz.” Jordan concludes another season with great successes, with the shoes gaining high popularity as previously intended.
