Vans is the California brand that went from the skate ramp to everyday wardrobes. In this category you'll find its classic models in premium versions and collaborations.

California Freedom and the Roots of Skateboarding

Vans was founded in 1966 in Anaheim, California. The company started out as a small workshop making shoes to order, but it quickly won over local skaters. The reason? A thick rubber sole that delivered excellent grip and durability – key traits in extreme sports. Over time, the comfort and distinctive look of Vans models became synonymous with freedom and independence, which fit perfectly with the spirit of California's growing skateboard scene.

An Icon – the Sidestripe and the Checkerboard

The most recognizable element in Vans designs is the so-called Sidestripe – a simple, wavy side-line motif that adorns iconic models such as the Old Skool and Sk8-Hi. The second key symbol is the distinctive checkerboard, found on the Slip-On and on many other variations of the brand's footwear and apparel. Combined with the “Off The Wall” logo – a nod to the lives of skaters riding steep pools – they create an energetic brand image that has stayed popular on streets around the world for decades.

Unconventional Collaborations with Fashion and Culture

Vans grew out of skate style but keeps broadening its horizons. Proof of that is a series of collaborations that have wowed fans of streetwear and pop culture:

  • Supreme – Limited collections in which classic Vans silhouettes get bolder new color schemes and striking patterns.
  • NASA – A futuristic line of footwear and apparel inspired by space flight, blending skate-style ease with space mission motifs.
  • Disney and Marvel – Fairy-tale and comic-book touches that reinterpret Vans models in a new way, delighting fans of cult characters.
  • Fear of God – A blend of street minimalism and the classic Vans vibe, resulting in designs with a muted color palette but eye-catching details.

Each of these collaborations brings freshness and shows that Vans can creatively combine different aesthetics without losing its skate DNA.

The Timeless Appeal of Urban Style

Although many years have passed since the brand's founding, Vans is still associated with youthful energy and a genuine passion for skateboarding. Today these shoes and clothes have become an integral part of streetwear, appreciated by teenagers and by adults who grew up in the skate scene. Openness to new trends, a commitment to simple shapes and the distinctive quality of its materials mean that Vans has not only stood the test of time but has become an icon, uniting successive generations in a passion for freedom expressed through style.

Vans models in this category

Classic Vans models have style numbers that still show up in their names: the Authentic is Style 44, the Era is Style 95, the Old Skool is Style 36, and the Slip-On is Style 98. Our range includes, among others:

  • Old Skool 36 – the Souvenir series (Warm Brown, Asphalt, Black, Oatmeal, Navy), Pearlized Pack, Archive Flame, Metagirl Buckle and the Parra edition.
  • Authentic 44 – La Habana, Ibiza Pack and two colorways made with the Japanese brand NEIGHBORHOOD.
  • Era – Supreme x Mike Kelley in white and gray, and the Era 95 Satoshi Nakamoto Round Lucky Charm.

  • Slip-On and Sk8-Hi – the Classic Slip-On 98 from the Pearlized series and the Sk8-Hi Cordura Desert Camo.

The LX, OTW, Vault and Premium labels point to the brand's premium lines, in which classic silhouettes get finer materials and more refined finishing.

How do you choose the right size for Vans shoes?

Vans are usually best in your standard size. Models on a flat, vulcanized sole, such as the Authentic or Slip-On, may feel narrower, so if you have wide feet, it's worth considering going up half a size. The Knu Skool has thicker padding, so it's best to try it on – come visit our brick-and-mortar store in Wrocław.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Old Skool and the Knu Skool?

The Old Skool is a low, slim model from 1977 with the signature Sidestripe. The Knu Skool keeps that stripe but has a thicker, puffed-up tongue and a more heavily padded upper, which makes it look chunkier.

Are Vans shoes suitable for skateboarding?

The classic models were created with skateboarding in mind and have a grippy waffle-pattern sole. That said, we treat the premium versions and collaborations in our range mainly as everyday shoes.

Can I return Vans shoes?

Yes, you have 14 days to return them. We explain how to do it on the returns page.
