A Short History of Yeezy Slides

Summer is in full swing. We're heading off on vacation, looking for footwear that's breathable and comfortable, and we want it to look good, too. There's only one answer: Yeezy Slides.

They're definitely one of the hottest models of the past two years. They owe it to their wide color palette and incredible comfort, which gives you the feeling of walking on clouds. But did you know that they looked a little different at first?

The Beginnings of Yeezy Slides

The first slides debuted in 2018. They were called the Yeezy Slipper and were part of Kanye's brand collection, Yeezy Season 6. Kanye even wore them to rapper 2Chainz's wedding, which didn't go without controversy. He was criticized because the slides were too small for him and looked bad.

Kanye responded that they were inspired by Japanese style, where the heel is actually supposed to stick out past the slides by one to two centimeters.

The Debut of Yeezy Slides

A year later, in April 2019, the collaborative Yeezy Slides made with adidas appeared on the horizon. It's a model that's still with us today, and we get new releases of it every few months. The first three colors they came in were Bone, Earth Brown and Resin.

It was also the only release on which we got to see the Bone colorway. Since then, that color has never been restocked. The slides' color palette is really wide. We can choose from neon orange, black, brown, white or green. Take a look at the graphic below, too.
