In 2006, when Kanye West was already on the threshold of being a superstar, but before his cult clash with 50 Cent, he unveiled a “College Dropout”-inspired collaboration with A Bathing Ape. Here West, who is no stranger to BAPE outfits and accessories, dresses the Bape Sta model in a motif that reflects the color scheme of his classic first album. The Kanye West x A Bathing Ape Bape Sta shoes feature premium leather on the mudguard and heel in chocolate brown and smooth cream leather on the toe, middle panel, BAPE logo on the side and top of the heel. Burnt red accents the lace trim, as well as the outsole and inner lining. However, the most eye-catching aspect of the shoe is the placement of the “College Dropout” bear mascot on the side of the shoe. Of course, these sneakers were released in an ultra-limited series.
