The term can be quite strange, especially for those hearing it for the first time. Is it some kind of special clothing for technologists? Nothing could be further from the truth. Techwear is a derivative of streetwear, so it is street fashion with distinct characteristics. Moreover, it is becoming very popular and gaining more and more followers. So what distinguishes techwear?

What influenced the development of techwear?

The development of fashion is influenced by many external factors, it draws from various areas of our lives. Ubiquitous technology also influences streetwear trends, resulting in techwear. Its characteristics are:

  • futuristic aesthetics,
  • dark colors,
  • convenience,
  • specialized materials,
  • water resistance,
  • capacity.

Techwear is a style of dress that combines comfort, functionality and a very well-defined aesthetic. Admittedly, it is nothing new, as mentions of this style appeared several or even a dozen years ago, while it has never been as popular as it is now. It is considered by some to be a quiet revolution, slowly transforming the fashion industry.

Futuristic clothing aesthetics

These garments have a fairly minimalist design, but are characterized by the presence of many pockets, belts, locks, buckles and fasteners. The garment looks very massive, as if it were meant to be bulletproof. It is somewhat reminiscent of the outfits worn by security guards, construction workers, letter carriers or even the military. And no wonder, since the main function of the clothing worn by people in these professions is body protection and freedom of movement.

Garment pieces sewn in techwear style are characterized by solid construction. The styling is often complemented by accessories, such as: leather gloves, chest rig vests and pouchesleg holstery. Such outfits with cyberpunk accents are definitely eye-catching and impressive.

Techwear was created by modern sewing and fabric joining techniques, making the style far ahead of the classic understanding of everyday fashion and taking us into the future.

Characteristic colors of techwear

Garments sewn in this aesthetic are also characterized by subdued colors. It is in vain to look here for reflective, intense elements or pastel colors. To maintain the futuristic atmosphere given by the cut of the garments themselves, dark colors are used. Most often it is black, Graphite, dark navy blue or anthracite.

The versatility of these colors means that they are not “predestined” for one gender, but can be worn by anyone.

Convenience – the most important aspect of techwear

This factor is a very important component of techwear. The materials used and the cut of the garments ensure freedom of movement. When designing these garments, the following are taken into account motor skills and anatomy of the human body, so it is not another standard cut that we deal with, for example, in chain stores.

Parts of clothing are created so as not to unnecessarily stretch and strain the fabric. Techwear should make our lives easier, functional and comfortable.

Technologically advanced materials

These garments are made of technologically advanced materials, such as gore-tex. Numerous top designers and textile engineers work on the production of techwear. They join forces to create fabrics that meet sports, military and outdoor needs and requirements.

The most important is Providing users with water resistance, breathability and wearing comfort. These clothes, depending on your needs, should retain or give away heat, protect against wind and precipitation, provide freedom of movement and, with all this, be pleasant to the touch and durable.

Waterproof

One of the main advantages of techwear is protection from snow and rain. The highly coveted GORE-TEX material is often used for this purpose.

It was created by the Gore family, which was the first to discover the method of stretching Teflon into a thin, porous membrane that is capable of repelling water (liquid state) and at the same time allow water vapor to pass through. In addition to GORE-TEX, materials such as eVent, HyVent and NeoShell are also used.

Practical and roomy

Nowadays when we leave the house we take a lot of things with us, such as: phone, keys, wallet, headphones, sometimes a charger or powerbank and other items we need. If we want to keep it all safe and tucked away, we often have to take a bag, sachet kidney or backpack with us.

Techwear, on the other hand, addresses this problem. The designs of these garments feature Many pockets, locks and storage compartments that can easily accommodate essential equipment. Everything is close to the body, so there is less chance of losing items, and the material that makes up the garment protects our belongings from the elements.

Techwear is a very specific style of dress, especially if we consider only design issues. Incorporating such clothing into our daily styling can be a challenge, but it is not impossible. However, due to the multitude of advantages of these garments and the modern, out-of-the-box process of their creation, it is worth considering buying a piece of clothing in the style of techwear, which is becoming the fashion of the future.
